Encouraging (strengthening) ourselves

1 Samuel 30:6 (King James Version)
And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

1 Samuel 30:6 (New King James Version)
Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.
1 Samuel 30:6 (New International Version)
David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God.
1 Samuel 30:6 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
David was in a difficult position because the troops talked about stoning him, for they were all very bitter over [the loss of] their sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God.
God's Word in a couple of different translations. Each saying the same thing. David found his strength in the Lord. Not just his physical strength. Remember the Giants? But also his mental/spiritual strength. His encouragement. What a great God!

I like the straight King James version but that is a good scripture.

And in this day and age, we need all the strength and encouragement we can get!
I love the KJV; it speaks to me in a way the others do not.
