Like and Dislike

I like LOVE this book that Penny got me from the discard section at the library. Having a sis who works at the library has lots of great benefits! I am a huge WofO fan. This one has wonderful drawings. I was a tickled girl that day. Love the green ribbon attached bookmark also. Thank you again Penny.
I strongly dislike...I won't say hate...the temperatures we are having. This is what my car measured this week. Penny and I have had to miss last Saturday and tomorrows farmer's market due to excessive heat. We just flat out cannot do it. I have lupus/all my other ailments and she has health issues. As she said, we have to look at the big picture. While we miss being there, our health is more important. The projected temp for tomorrow is 106 and the heat index is 120. YIKES!! So thankful for central air.
I am blessed. ~Angela

A great read

Another great novel by Sandra Dallas. I read it through twice. Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything. That is the marker of a good book for me.
Whiter Than Snow
Prayers for my sister Debbie's family please. They buried BOTH of her in-laws today. They were elderly and passed away 8 days apart. Very very hard on the family. Single funerals are hard, double funerals are horrible.
Still trying to get caught up on my rest from retreat. Had the family over for a funeral dinner today. Which was a blessing to do. Tomorrow I rest. Saturday, Penny and I are planning on vendoring at the farmer's market with our wares. This is IF it isn't raining. Who is over the rain?? Glad it hasn't been snow! :o) But come August, we will be cryin' around wanting it. :o)
Be blessed.

I liked this book...maybe you will too.

"Prayers for Sale" by Sandra Dallas. The setting is Colorado, in 1936. If you get a chance, give it a try. Let me know if you do.

We have had a crazy heat advisory here in southern Indiana. Blech on THAT! And I was putzing around in the kitchen making a decent meal and food for the weekend. (First time since surgery and I pick the hottest day. Yep I am the smart one. LOL) The central air has not shut off all day. Here is a silly trick I did. We are having Father's Day at my folk's tomorrow. I am taking among other things, deviled eggs and brownies. So I made my eggies and kept out 3 for the brownies. Then as I was cleaning the kitchen a bit, I thought to make Mark some potato salad. Now you gotta know, I haven't made him this but perhaps twice in our 16 years. Yep you guessed it, boiled up my last 3 eggs. Now I will be making brownies tomorrow after he makes a grocery run AND heating the house up again. He was in for the night and I just wasn't up to it at that point. I hate doing such crazy things. This time, I blamed it on the heat. Next time....well we will see what I come up with. What am I saying? I do something crazy everyday! hahaha This time I just took it harder. :o)

Hope you are cool wherever you are. Have a great weekend.

Sad book

Sad sad book. The Friday Night Knitting Club. And I passed up a quilting novel to buy this. My book buying dollars are not spend willynilly either. Like EVER! LOL I had time on my hands at a long running over appointment the other day. Gave in and bought a book. We are library people thank you very much! Penny is my personal shopper library lady. Scoping out the books I found this one. Started reading...not bad, got more involved in it... Then I told Penny about my purchase. Her reply, you are not going to like the way it ends. She knows me, cause I hated it! I will not spoil it for you, but #1. Have tissues at hand. #2. Plan on staying up all night to finish it. #3 Be on the waiting list for the sequel.

I am making yogurt cheese. Will let you know how it turns out. I have chives in the garden I plan on adding, so this batch will be a savory spread. Penny turned me onto it because I have been talking about wanting a yogurt maker and the things you can do with it. I am using the Stonyfield plain low fat yogurt. After only 2 hours, I have emptied about a cup of liquid whey from the bottom bowl. More than I thought. I am thinking it will really be yummy and much MUCH lower in fats than my beloved cream cheese. sigh

ps: And I hate March Madness. Just makes me mad! Knocks out my Survivor.
